La Baleine Cafe in Homer

Food was good albeit slow service. Neglected to inform us they were out of the main ingredient for one of our sandwiches until it was served to us. They did offer some tasty cookies as a condolence.

Adorable and delicious! Such. Cute little place and what amazing food they serve all very tasty and well prepared and presented. Good coffee and great crowd.

The best breakfast I have possibly ever had. Such fresh ingredients and delicious flavors. I'm not sure what they did to the potatoes but they were phenomenal. If you are in Homer on the Spit definitely try breakfast or lunch you will not get any better.

Excellent breakfast veggie sandwich served with fresh fruit and spinach mushroom side. Prices reasonable.

Friendly people, complimentary coffee, tasty eco-conscious food. Expect it to be a bit busy. Have a cup of coffee, it'll only be a few minutes.

Surprisingly unwelcoming feeling because of not aware of needed to order at the bar when the staff was looking at us not saying anything even seated in front of the bar!... But, good breakfast anyway.

Loved the serve-yourself coffee and water, food was delicious too! You order at the counter, pick a table and they bring your good out. Great food with a great view!

I struggle with ordering breakfast without eggs. The staff here made me feel like they were happy to cook my breakfast, without any complaints that I dared to ask for a breakfast meal while being allergic to eggs. Then, it ended up being the best corned beef hash I've ever eaten. Coffee and hot chocolate are complimentary and self-serve.

Opens early, so busy first thing serving breakfast to locals going fishing. Everything cooked to order so it took 35mins, they told me it takes time to poach an egg. Homer is not well served with options at 6am, this is as good as it gets. The omlette looked nice, my musher:s breakfast was vile. I score it as being better than nothing at 6am in the morning.

Great place for breakfast. Plenty to eat and delicious. They open at 5 a.m. which is great if you are going on a tour.

Breakfast was tasty, but lacking on the hot beverage options (only Lipton teabags for hot tea).

Really nice people working there but we left a lot on our plates- omelette and biscuits/gravy flat (too much milk in gravy, bland) and just below average. Free coffee is good, but food disappoints.

A great cappuccino and a great mocha. Both caff and decaf available.

We bought box lunches from La Baleine for our Halibut charter. Lunches were great, had a choice of sandwiches, 2 meat and 1 vegetarian option for the sandwiches. Ample food for a day of fishing, we were SO enthralled with fishing we actually lost track of time and only scarfed down our lunches on the way back into Homer mid afternoon. One thing to note though, each lunch included a banana. If you are at all superstitious and MOST ALL boat Captains are....banana's are BAD LUCK on a fishing boat. We thought it was pretty funny.

Decent simple breakfast at reasonable prices. The steel cut oats and breakfast sandwich are both solid. You won't be wowed but you won't be disappointed either. Great place to grab food before hopping on your fishing charter.

The best food on the Spit and also affordable! The only complaint I've ever had is they need to be open more! I just love eating here, and they also have a great coffee shop on the side.

Super service and quick turnaround on a great breakfast. My server even went next door to grab a shirt I wanted to buy for my daughter.

Delicious breakfast. Pancakes seem to have a little citrus zest, potatoes were perfectly cooked. Mushers Meal was great. Beautifully prepared and presented.

Wonderful!!! The ramen bowl was so flavorful and filling. Absolutely perfect for the rainy day today. The staff was so friendly and helpful as well. Huge smiles on all of them. Such a wonderful vibe to eat lunch in. Thank you.

This place is outstanding. From the service to the food. The chefs care about what they cook and the staff is over the top. Plus bottomless coffee and hot coco. Can't go wrong here.

Stumbled in here one morning while wandering the Spit on our first day. Wow. I got the breakfast burrito but had them make it in an omelette instead of the tortilla shell. It was so good, I have been back from vacation for a month and I am still thinking about this omelette. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. Also had the berry mimosa, yum.

Eerytime hits the spot no matter what you order! The widgeon is my favorite sandwich with the Salmon bowl a close 2nd! Breakfast or lunch La Baline is the best choice in season!

Prices are high staff are snotty and rude plus wouldn't even serve me must be rasist cuz j was the only non white person there... Who is the next coincidence idk about that... Cuz it been my third time in the last three years same thing never going there again

Took a very long time - horrible service. I don’t think I saw a single employee smile. When our food finally came, our eggs were cold, biscuits were hard and flavor completely absent. The set up of paying before receiving poor food/service makes sense because you can’t base your tip off of the quality of your experience...hence the lack of quality in this restaurant. The table behind us also was very vocal about their poor food & cold eggs. Very disappointed.
